Seungha obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), Republic of Korea. She then pursued her Ph.D. in Chemistry at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), where she investigated the structure of RNA–RNA polymerase complexes involved in transcription regulation in E. coli using cryo-EM single-particle analysis. During her Ph.D., she developed a strong interest in studying macromolecular structures within their native cellular environments, which led her to join the Schur Lab to combine her background in cryo-EM with cutting-edge cryo-ET expertise. In the Schur Lab from 2025, Seungha will investigate extracellular matrix organization and cell–matrix interactions in skin tissue using cryo-electron tomography.
