Timon_Nast-Kolb

Timon obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Biochemistry at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany. He then pursued his PhD in Physics in the group of Cellular Biophysics at TUM, where he investigated the molecular mechanisms governing the assembly, disassembly, and organization of the actin cytoskeleton.
During his PhD, he reconstituted dynamic actin networks using purified recombinant proteins and in vitro membrane systems. Combining advanced fluorescence microscopy with biochemical and biophysical approaches, he focused on understanding how molecular condensates regulate actin dynamics and the organization of higher-order cytoskeletal structures.
In the Schur Lab, Timon will combine his expertise in the in vitro reconstitution of actin dynamics with high-resolution cryo-electron microscopy to investigate how Huntingtin protein effects and regulates actin filaments and networks.
